JHG-Townsend CEO Jayne Hancock to Moderate Panel on How to Win and Keep Large Customers at San Diego Venture Group Event
SAN DIEGO – March 12, 2008 - JHG-Townsend, a results-driven communications group that effectively combines traditional marketing and PR services with new digital media, today announced that Jayne Hancock, JHG-Townsend's chief executive officer, is moderating a panel titled, “Working with Giants: How San Diego's Start-Ups and Emerging Companies Land the Big Ones” at the San Diego Venture Group (SDVG) event held in La Jolla, California. Hancock has more than 20 years of experience in media, marketing and entertainment. She is the former vice president of consumer marketing at DIRECTV where she was responsible for more than $5 billion annual revenue and was instrumental in the development of numerous service packages, most notably NFL Sunday Ticket. As the CEO of JHG-Townsend, Hancock and her team have created an invaluable marketing partnership resource for large, successful entities such as Comcast, Rogers Communications, Cox Communications and Qualcomm’s MediaFLO USA.
The panel will address ways emerging San Diego companies can create effective, long-lasting and profitable relationships with large national companies. The panel will discuss the benefits, such as increased visibility and a boost in prospects, as well as the challenges, such as lack of resources, non-negotiable pricing terms and constant competition that small companies face when working with a large company. Hancock will moderate the panel that includes: Alex Bard, CEO and founder of goowy media; Robert Christie, CEO of 3E Company; Greg Kostello, CEO and founder of VMIX. Bard, Christie and Kostello, all CEOs of San Diego-based companies, will share their insight on how to gain the attention of large companies, create sustainable relationships and handle the possible “next chapter” – when a small company is acquired by a larger entity.
The SDVG is a non-profit organization designed to bring together people in San Diego who are interested in new enterprise and the process of creating it. The organization’s mission is to provide a networking forum for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and advisors in an informal atmosphere where human expertise can foster new ventures.
